Puppy & Dog Socialsation
The focus of the Socialisation sessions and dog walking groups are to let
your puppy or adult dog socialise and play, to learn to accept other breeds of different sizes and ages and to learn bite inhibitions.
Puppy Socialisation Sessions
The 30 minute puppy socialisation session are only available to clients who have taken one of our courses or the Entry lesson. The sessions will
be spent with your puppy off lead, playing with the
other pups. During these socialisation sessions
I will answer any questions you have about your puppy.
There are 3 socialisation groups - Xtra Tiny, Small and Medium
Xtra Tiny for the smallest Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles, Mini Dachshunds, etc
SMALL for the youngest puppies, small breeds and nervous dogs.
MEDIUM for larger and boisterous puppies
Protecting your puppy
The first time you come to a socialising session, you will be shown how to protect your puppy, so we build up their confidence. It is vital
to make sure your dog doesn't have any bad experiences
with other dogs, children, other animals or inanimate
objects. We want to give the dogs as many good
experiences as possible, so that when they do come
across a bad experience, their good experiences will out
number the bad ones.
How do I book my puppy in for the socialisation sessions?
You pick the socialisation sessions from our online schedule and email me with the dates and times that you'd like to attend. The socialisation sessions are only available to clients who have taken one of our courses or the Entry lesson.
We also offer free socialisation sessions to puppies who are training with Pam Haynes at The Dog School and Alison Milner at MilnersMutts.
How old are the puppies in the socials?
The puppies are welcome from the day that they
are allowed out, after having finished their
vaccinations.
We don't have max age of the pups that come to the socialisation sessions, but we do divide the pups up in different groups, depending on their confidence. Generally the puppies over 4 months go to the Medium socialisation sessions, the puppies under 4 months go to the Small Breed socialisation sessions, but there are exceptions.
When are the socialisation sessions held?
The socialisation sessions are 30
minutes long each and you will find the dates and
times for these session on the online schedule. You choose how many sessions
you want to attend. This gives you more freedom,
so you can choose how much you want to socialise
your puppy.
How much does it cost?
The socialisation sessions are free
of charge for clients of DogBasics, The Dog School or MilnersMutts. See more info under the heading 'How do I book...'.
Where are the lessons held?
The socialsation sessions are held outdoors, in Great Offley, Hertfordshire, in a football field.
The football field is located in the post code area SG5 3DN. Offley is a village located
between Luton and Hitchin, near Lilley, Charlton
and Cockernhoe. We are near the boarder of Bedfordshire.

Dog Walking Groups
How
to start a new group | Type Groups | Regional Groups | Breed Groups
For our clients puppies AND older dogs who are too boisterous for the socialising sessions, we offer dog walking groups.
NOTE: These walking groups are only available for DogBasics clients, past and present. If you fill in this form and you are not a client, your form will be deleted and we will not be in touch with you.
The purpose of the walks would mainly be to socialise
the dogs with other dogs. It could also help you improve
your recall and make your dog well socialised. The walks
will not be charged for, it is a free service.
Every
dog owner joining the walk will be responsible for his or her own
dog and it's behaviour.
There are 4 types of groups: Type, Regional, Breed and Training. For example:
Large Boisterous Dog Walking Group (type)
Lead Only Walking Group (type)
Luton Dog Walking Group (regional)
Boxer Dog Walking Group (breed)
etc.
When you have booked and paid for your course at DogBasics you can fill in the forms below, to sign up for your chosen dog walking group/s. There is no limit to how many groups you sign up to.
Once you've signed up to a group, you'll be sent a link to the groups page, together with a login and password. On your groups page, all the clients who are members will be listed with their email address, their first name, the dogs name and breed. You can then choose to either email all of them or pick the ones you'd like to go for a walk with. This puts you in control of when and where you would like to walk, but offers the oportunity to get some company on your walk.
